Safety of classroom furniture

Around the world, schools often see dozens of safety incidents that could have been avoided if they had proper classroom furniture. Old and broken benches, sharp edges and badly designed furniture all contribute to avoidable statistics. And with bad head injuries having the ability to completely ruin a future, it is all the more vital that schools insist on safe classroom furniture.

Fittings and fixtures that tie in with global safety norms are also important in these spaces to avoid any untoward incidents. Look for classroom furniture based on how it will be used. The basic need for most classrooms are benches and tables.

For individual seats in a classroom, it is best if they are fixed so they cannot be misused. It is worth ensuring that cabinets and storage cupboards do not have any glass, and they are placed along walls without any corners jutting out.

Edges and corners of all classroom furniture must be rounded, and desks should be flame resistant. Lay out the seats in a way that the teacher can survey all the students in his/her care without trouble. Work desks for the teachers should be at an appropriate height to allow him/her to keep an eye on students comfortably while seated.
